Papa Yahweh?
Papa Yahweh? By now I am sure you have seen this phrase somewhere on the website. Why do we use the term Papa Yahweh for God?? Well lets break this down ^_^
So lets look at Romans 8:15. "The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." (NIV) So if you have accept that Christ did indeed die for you and all your sins, and have been redeemed then this scripture states that you now have been brought through the process of adoption-ship into the Kingdom of God. That you are a Son or daughter of God. That's fantastic news!
Abba?
In this scripture Abba is an Aramaic background meaning Father. HELPS word studies puts it like this "Abba" – "Father," also used as the term of tender endearment by a beloved child – i.e. in an affectionate, dependent relationship with their father; "daddy," "papa." So this gives us the right to call God Papa or even Daddy! Because of this many would say Papa God, or Daddy God and that perfectly fine.
Yahweh? What is Yahweh??
However we discover that "Yahweh is the name of the God of the ancient Hebrews composed of four Hebrewconsonants (YHWH, known as the Tetragrammaton) which the prophet Moses is said to have revealed to his people." (http://www.ancient.eu/Yahweh/) So this actually depicts that the Creator of the universes name is not God but actually Yahweh.
Papa Yahweh
I would like to believe that the term God is perfectly fine as well as Papa God, or Daddy God. But God still seems a little impersonal. It's like using someones title and not there name. Abba is suppose to be more affectionate, and calling someone by their name seems more affectionate in my book. So we have come up with Papa Yahweh.
